2017 Positional Spending Versus the League

The Houston Texans are scheduled to open their training camp next week on July 25th.  This is a great time to compare how the Texans spend their cap dollars on the position groups as compared to the other 31 NFL teams in the league.  For the first time in many years the Texans are one of the league’s lowest spending teams in terms of cap dollars; and are the lowest in terms of actual cash spending.  The following table highlights the total cap spending dollars at each position group, where the Texans rank versus the league in such spending, and which team is the highest and lowest spenders as each specific position.
