Week 12 Review

December 1st, 2015

The Texans make it 4 wins in a row with the 24-6 victory of the New Orleans Saints.  The defense continued their dominance by not allowing a touchdown again; but the offense started on fire!  At one point Brian Hoyer was 9-9 mid way through the second quarter as the Texans offense picked apart the Saints defense.  Given all the positives we are seeing in all three phases of the game, with JJ Watt getting his sacks, with Ryan Griffin having a career game…the hidden gem of all this is rookie inside linebacker Bernardrick McKinney.  Every week he gets better as the game slows down for him.  Cushing & McKinney have become a very solid ILB duo for the Texans.  McKinney could very well be the heir apparent for Cushing as the every down backer come 2017.  Yes…you heard it here…Brian Cushing will be on the Texans roster for the 2016 season.  Brian Hoyer looked sharp to start the game, but had some kind of brain fart in the second quarter with a very bad interception.  Luckily the defense bailed him out by stopping the Saints after that.  9 players were targeted in the passing game.  Tight End Ryan Griffin lead the corp with 4 receptions, 72 yards, 1 touchdown.  The touchdown was especially good considering the decision that Griffin made.  Griffin was initially set to remain as a blocker at the line, but when he saw his assigned block-ee drop back into zone coverage; Griffin took off to the open area of the field.  Hoyer made a solid pass to Griffin which lead to a touchdown.  As of today the team has completed zero transactions; so we will jump right into the game information.
