Team Transactions – Roster Moves to 75

August 31st, 2015

The Houston Texans have started their first set of transactions to move the active roster count down to the required count of 75 players.  Continue to check back for updates throughout the next two days.

Injured Reserve & NFI Reserve

LB Reshard Cliett

Cliett, a 6th round draft choice, has a split salary designation lowering his base salary to $318,000.

OT David Quessenberry

Health is priority number 1 for Quessenberry and the team continues to support him completely with a full salary.  When a player is not the NFI list, the team has the option to not pay the player’s salary.  This is another reason why the Houston Texans are a stand up organization.

Trades

OT Chris Clark

Texans sent a 2016 7th round draft pick to the Denver Broncos for veteran OT Chris Clark.  The 7th rounder given came from the Case Keenum trade to St. Louis earlier this offseason.  Clark brings a $1,400,000 salary & cap charge with him to the Texans.

Waived

DE Cam McLeod

Leaves $1,000 dead money in 2015 and $2,000 in 2016.

LB Jason Ankrah

WR Jace Davis

P Will Johnson

Waived/Injured

S Terrance Parks

Parks is coming off of a hamstring injury.  Parks will go through waivers, and if he clears will return to the Texans’ injured reserve at a split salary.

TE Anthony Denham

Denham is coming off of a shoulder injury.  Denham will go through waivers, and if he clears will return to the Texans’ injured reserve at a split salary.

Released

DT Chris Neild

Leaves $0 dead money.

LB Jeff Tarpinian

Leaves $15,000 dead money.  Tarpinian had a $35,000 roster bonus if he had made the final 53 man roster.  If not picked up by another team, Tarpinian will be an option for the Texans to resign during the season if needed.

The players listed under the Waived section will be subject to waivers.  If the player is un-claimed in the next 24 hours the player will become a street free agent.  Players listed under the Released section are vested veterans and are not subject to waivers; and are free agents upon release.  Players listed under the Waived/Injured section will be subject to the waiver system  If the player goes un-claimed the player will then revert back to the Texans’ roster on the Reserve/Injured list.  The team will have a 5 window to negotiate an injury settlement, or keep the player on the Reserve list until healthy.
