Team Transactions – Two Vets Signed

August 19th, 2015

Per Aaron Wilson’s tweet the Houston Texans have signed two veterans to the 90 man roster with Quintin Demps & Fili Moala.  Early indications are both Demps & Moala signed one year veteran minimum contracts; which would mean both players will have a cap charge of $585,000 for the 2015 season unless there is a signing bonus included but not likely.

Quintin Demps plays Safety but can also return punts & kick offs.  With Lonnie Ballentine not practicing due to injury, Demps is probably being brought in for work at Safety versus Special Teams.  Many fans will recall Demps since he was on the Texans from 2010 through 2012 seasons.  Demps will wear jersey #32.

Fili Moala plays defensive end and should fill in for Jeoffrey Pagan as he deals with injury as well.  Moala spent the last 6 years with the Indianapolis Colts; but spent the entire 2014 season on injured reserve after an ACL injury.  Moala will wear jersey #64.

The team made two corresponding roster moves to fit Moala & Demps onto the 90 man roster.  Tight End Mike McFarland has been waived/injured; and Defensive Lineman Jasper Coleman has been released.  McFarland will be placed on waivers, and if he is not claimed by another team he will return to the Texan’s Injured Reserve list.  At that point the team will have 5 days to reach an injury settlement with McFarland.
