Team Transaction – Signing Chris Polk

April 28th, 2015:

Houston Texans signed Chris Polk, RB.  Philadelphia had originally placed a 2nd round tender on Polk, who was a restricted free agent at the time.  Polk did not receive any offer sheets from other NFL teams; Philadelphia pulled the offer sheet prior to the April 24, 2015 deadline.  When that occurred Polk immediately became an unrestricted free agent.

Polk signed a 1 year contract for the minimum salary of $660,000.  The contract also includes 46 man active roster bonus paid per game, maxing out at $100,000.  The amount of bonus pay per game is $6,250.  Polk has an LTBE roster bonus for 14 games for 2015.

Polk will compete with Alfred Blue, Jonathan Grimes, and Ben Malena for the number 2 running back spot behind Arian Foster.  Polk does have some kick off return experience, which included a 102 yard kick off return for a touchdown against Washington during the 2014 season.

**Update, per Texans PR department.  Chris Polk will wear jersey number 32.**
