Today the Houston Texans announced the signing of free agent safety Rahim Moore. The deal is reportedly worth $12,000,000 for 3 years, including $4,500,000 in guaranteed money. Face value this appears to be an outstanding signing, especially for the price. Moore was ranked as the number 2 free agent safety available by Pro Football Focus. Moore will be penciled in as the starter to replace free agent Kendrick Lewis. Moore will team up with D.J. Swearinger to man the backfield with cornerbacks Jonathan Joseph & Kareem Jackson. This appears to be a solid defensive secondary group.
With this new free agent signing, this leaves the Texans with approximately $8,497,177 in team cap space going forward. The Texans could still be active in the second and third waves of free agency, but to do so the team will likely need to release another player or two.
