Today the NFLPA report appeared to include team adjustments in the numbers. For the Houston Texans the report reflected a credit adjustment of $1,779,133 towards the team salary cap. I am still trying to figure out the exact details of the adjustment. Some of the details I may never know, but at least we know the number. Note this adjustment does not include the place holder $561,600 for workout bonus.
I’ve looked over the 2014 numbers and I am getting close to what exactly contributed to the credit. Here is what I think may be the line items:
- $1,000,000 credit for Andre Johnson’s hold out from the 2014 training camp.
- $128,824 credit for Chris Clemons, he received a $250,000 salary guarantee from Houston, was released, then signed with Arizona for the last three weeks of the season.
- $31,250 credit for Garrett Graham, he played less games in 2014 than he did in 2013, so that would be a credit on his LTBE roster bonus.
- $150,000 credit for Will Yeatman, his roster bonus LTBE was $150,000 based on 8 games played in 2013. Played zero games in 2015.
Those three items I am fairly certain about. The team may have received a credit for the difference in salary for Ronnie Brown & Elbert Mack but I am still researching this. However, since we know the number we will include the adjustment on the team salary cap page.
The NFL should be announcing the final salary cap number here soon since the franchise tag deadline is March 2nd, 2015.
